A group, Abuja Moms Empowerment Foundation has organised free skill acquisition for over 500 women in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The training which was held over the weekend had facilitators train the women on Wall designs, Cake and Gift boxes making, Body Soap, Scrubs and Cream making and Basic Tailoring.
Other skills learnt during the training include Cake decoration, Beading and Stones on clothes, paper flower making and throw pillows.
Speaking while declaring the training open, the founder of the Foundation, Happiness Ani, stated that the event was meant to empower the women so that they will not only be financially independent but also be a support to their husband in the home front.
Ani commended the women for taking a step to empower themselves and urged them not to take the free training for granted but to pay attention and soak up the knowledge and skills being taught by the facilitators.
“I would like for you to take this seriously. The whole essence of annual training is to empower the women so that they will have something to do. There is no excuse for women to be idle. They can work from the comfort of their homes. This is another opportunity for the women to network and exchange ideas. When you come out and see other women hustling, it gives you a type of ginger,” she said.
She also commended the facilitators who volunteered to teach the women and also her team who had worked tirelessly to ensure that the training was a success even without her being present.
Also speaking, the Programme Director of the Foundation, Adaeze Ochi stated that the goal of the training was to empower women who will become game changers in every sphere.

She noted that the theme of the event, “Training to impact” stems from the expectation that the women will not only gain skills that will benefit them but that they will also find time to train others too.
One of the beneficiaries, Loveth Obiora stated that the training was not only impactful, educative but also inspiring.
Another beneficiary, Franca Emeka stated,”I appreciate our boss lady, Happiness Ani for taking the initiative to organize this event. May God bless and empower her. I learnt how to make beautiful slippers and bags. I was amazing,”
Abuja Moms Empowerment Foundation is the off-shoot of an all women Facebook platform, Abuja Moms, a strong network of sisters sharing love and giving back to their community through humanitarian projects.
