In their effort to cub the menace of women and girls right violation in the societies, Salama Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC), Kafanchan organized a one day awareness campaign to change the negative trends in the society.
The event was organized for women, girls and youth at Ungwan Yanshi in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state to mark the 2022 International Day to the Elimination of Violence Against Women with theme; “UNITE! Activism to End Violence Against Women and Girls”, popularly known as “ORANGE THE WORLD”.
The program was funded by the Center for Integrated Health Program (CIHP), Kaduna.
Speaking at the event, the Center Manager, Mrs Grace Yohanna Abbin, said for any society to make progress it must protect its women against any violence, “because they deserve to be carried along in every decision making process in the society.”
She said violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent, and devastating human rights violations in the world today, “and it remains largely unreported due to the impunity, negligence, silence, fear, stigma and shame that surrounds it in most parts of the world.

“Although Gender Based Violence affects women more because they are more vulnerable than the men, but women too do violence against the men,” she stated.
In his goodwill message, the Village Head of Ungwan Yanshi, Ayuba Yakubu, commended the effort and commitment of SARC team on their quest to reduce cases of domestic violence to the barest minimum in southern part of Kaduna state.
He pledged to work hand in hand with all other stakeholders to put an end to the menace in the community.
According to UN reports, roughly one in every three women has been assaulted at some point in her life.
In general terms, however, it manifests itself in physical, sexual and psychological forms, encompassing intimate partner violence and sexual violence and harassment.
