Barrister Chimezie Nwankwo, popularly known as Bar Rolex and former President-General of Aguleri Town Union, was shot dead in Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Thursday.
The attack, believed to be targeted, occurred shortly after he left Ekwulobia High Court. Gunmen on a motorcycle ambushed him and his companions.
One other person died in the attack, while a survivor is hospitalized and assisting police with their investigation.
The Police recovered a red Toyota Camry at the scene, believed to belong to Barrister Nwankwo.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, visited the scene and ordered a full-scale investigation, deploying tactical and intelligence teams to apprehend the perpetrators.
The Police have pledged to bring those responsible to justice.
