Havids Centre, NDLEA forge collaboration to combat menace of drug abuse

In a landmark move towards addressing the pressing issue of drug abuse among youth, The Havids Centre for Environment and Development paid a courtesy call on the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Rivers State on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

During the visit, representatives from the Centre highlighted their commitment to youth empowerment and community development through various initiatives such as the Practical Leadership Awards for Youths (PLAY) and Scholar Diplomats. Recognizing the critical role of collaboration, they emphasized the need for joint efforts in combating drug abuse and trafficking.

The Centre’s multidisciplinary approach, focusing on environmental conservation, sustainable development, and youth entrepreneurship, aligns with NDLEA’s mission to curb drug abuse and trafficking. By engaging youth in positive activities and providing them with opportunities for growth and development, both organizations aim to steer them away from the dangers of substance abuse.

In his address, the Commander of NDLEA, Rivers State Command, CN Ahmed Mamuda, expressed appreciation for Centre’s efforts and pledged support for their youth programs.

He emphasized the importance of partnership and collective action in addressing the complex challenges of drug abuse.

This collaboration between The Havids Centre and NDLEA marks a significant step forward in the fight against drug abuse, signaling a united front in safeguarding the well-being and future of youth in Rivers State.
