Health journalists condole Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria over death of Secretary General
The Association of Nigeria Health Journalists (ANHEJ) has paid a condolence visit to the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) over the demise of Secretary General of the union, Comrade Dr. Silas Adamu, who died together with his wife and daughter in a ghastly motor accident along Abuja-Kaduna highway, recently.
The President, ANHEJ, Hassan Zaggi who led his team on the visit said, said his members are here to identify the management and members of the MHWUN as a result of the relationship the Association and the Union have enjoyed and also haven’t known the Late Comrade Adamu to be a very humble, humane, hardworking, calm, intelligent, friendly and a detrabalised Nigerian.
“In our interactions with him over the years, we found the Late Comrade. Adamu to be blessed with the gift of proffering solution to challenges as they come up as his contributions to issues raised were always brilliant.
Zaggi who said the death of late Comrade Adamu is very painful and tragic also pray that God will give the Union, the president, management and the immediate family the grace to bear such huge loss.
Zaggi who also said the death of Comrade Adamu is very painful and tragic, pray that God will give the president,MHWUN management and entire members of the Union, the family, including all of us, the grace to bear such huge loss.
He also used the opportunity to call for a renewed and sustained relationship between the MHWUN and ANHEJ adding that working closely with the Association, they believe, it will serve Nigerians better as far as understanding what they do as health professionals is concerned.
“It is also important to note that the challenges faced by JOHESU and indeed, the entire health workers in Nigeria, is centred at the Federal Ministry of Health, not the Federal Ministry of Labour.
“As usual, we are in a better position to understand, intervene and support the union to resolve all issues for harmony in the health sector and for better health care for all Nigerians.”
ANHEJ also charged the federal government to, as a matter of urgency, begin the implementation of the Emergency Ambulance services on all our major highways in the country as provided for in the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF).
“This, we believe, will save the lives of hundreds of Nigerians who are accident victims on our highways from untimely deaths,” Zaggi said.
