Heavy lose in Nigeria as Emir of Zuru, Sani Sami dies at 81

The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami, Gomo II, has passed away on Saturday night in a London hospital after brief illness.
The Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
The Monarch, a one time Commander Brigade of Gourds, Bauchi State Military Governor and GOC 82 Division, Enugu, died at the age of 81 years after spending 29 years on the throne as a first class Emir.
The monarch who passed away after spending a week in the hospital had before travelling showed serious signs of ailing health conditions, had left behind four wives, seven children, brothers, cousins, nephews and nieces.
According to the Commissioner, Kebbi State Government was deeply touched with the shocking news but however extended its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family members, Zuru Emirate Council, Zuru people and the entire people of Kebbi State.
The spoksperson of the Emirate Council and a holder of the traditional title of Kakakin Zuru, Muhammad Abba, said burial arrangements would be communicated to the public as soon as the remains arrived home.
