High Court judge speaks to bishops on government, society

A top judiciary officer, formerly of the Sokoto judicial division, Justice Fred Oho is scheduled to speak to top clergymen in Nigeria on how they can consolidate their relationship with the state and society.

A former House of Representatives member who represented the Biase/Akamkpa federal constituency in the National Assembly, Alex Ukam disclosed this to journalists in Calabar.

Ukam, an Archbishop, who is the Bishop of Cross River State leads a large body of Bishops, numbering over 150 in the state.

He disclosed that as part of solemn activities leading to the consecration of 1200 new set of Bishops-elect in the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, his own arm, the Cross River State Bishops’ Forum, would stage a 2-day retreat on Saturday 28 February 2021 in Biakpan community, birthplace of the founder of the spiritual Organization.

According to him, the retreat will prepare the Bishops-elect for their eventual consecration billed to be done by the respected spiritual leader, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu in Calabar on April 2, 2021.

“Justice Fred Oho is one of the erudite scholars and resource persons, who is to speak to the new set of Bishops on the topic: “Relationship Of Bishops with God, Man, Government & Society”.

Ukam said today’s clergymen must flee every appearances of sin which include disrespecting state powers.

“This is the essence of this
retreat, aimed at positioning the high priests in the New World”, he said.

He also disclosed that an academic don from the University of Calabar, Dr Bassey E. Bassey alongside Bishop Iwora Godfrey Agara, will speak on why clergymen must have entrepreneurial skills.

Ukam added that, a legal expert who is also an archbishop, Evans Nwansi will expatiate on the Doctrines And Teaching of Leader O. O. OBU.
