It’s time for Nigeria to outlaw religion and strengthen her judicial process so as to give her people hope in this troubling moments.
Making the submission in an interview in Jos, Plateau state was the immediate past candidate for the Plateau South Senatorial District in the just concluded national elections, Hon. Alex Yoila Kwapnoe.
Hon. Kwapnoe who is also the the chairman of a Plateau think-thank, non political group; “Plateau Our Heritage Revival Initiative ” POHri, lampooned politicians for being selfish and non progressive, adding that any genuine Nigerian need not be told where the problems of the country are, and they must be careful of the growing tension.
He said, “I have written several times and called for a reversal to; strengthening of our laws and penal codes akin to the Asian countries model” where respect for constitutionalism remains a focal point.
The former commissioner in the state also insist that a reversal to Paliamentary system of governance and the introduction to the six regional government system will breed competition among the zones which will curb corruption that has been responsible for the country’s retarded growth.
The “zoning of all political positions in our country for the next 50 years” is another plausible thing that must be encouraged; he stressed, because that will stabilise the polity and give the people a sense of belonging.
He also advocated for a single tenure for president and or premiership positions as this will attract competition and allow for zonal participation in governance unlike what is being practiced.
Hon. Kwapnoe was pained by the penalties for corruption and wilful negligent issues, stating that If there is sincerity of purpose in the fight against corruption, the menace would be minimal because of the stiffer penalties.
