The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, has reaffirmed that the hope of Nigeria lies firmly in God.
He made this declaration during the Conference of States meeting , comprising Chairmen and Executive Secretaries of State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, including FCT held at the NCPC Corporate Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
In his remark, Bishop Adegbite acknowledged the current difficulties and challenges facing the nation but emphasized that no adversity can destroy a country whose faith and unity remain rooted in God.
He strongly condemned groups attempting to incite attacks against both Muslims and Christians, asserting that such divisive actions would be defeated through unity and vigilance. “Nigeria will not support any form of genocide. We acknowledge the efforts of our government in combating terrorism and have faith that our nation will overcome, as the President is on the right track,” he stated.
The Executive Secretary urged all stakeholders to continue working harmoniously and to remain steadfast in supporting government efforts towards national renewal, peace, and unity.
“We know the challenges before us, but we must stand together as one. Nigeria will overcome as long as we remain united and prayerful. Our strength lies in our collective faith,” Bishop Adegbite stated.

He also commended the success of the 2025 Easter Pilgrimage exercise, describing it as a remarkable testament to Nigeria’s spiritual resilience and divine favor despite recent events in Israel.
He expressed gratitude to State Governments for their active sponsorship and announced that the Commission will honor outstanding states — including Imo, Plateau, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Delta — for their strong commitment to the pilgrimage initiative.
Reiterating the NCPC’s commitment to strengthening partnerships, promoting unity, and upholding Nigeria’s image, Bishop Adegbite concluded: “A tree cannot make a forest. Together, we will continue to lift our nation in prayer and in action until Nigeria takes her rightful place among the comity of nations.”
Earlier, the Chairman of the Conference of States, Bishop David Moradeyo, prayed for the continued success of Bishop Adegbite’s led administration and, on behalf of the conference, congratulated him on his recent appointment as Chaplain of the State House Chapel, Abuja.
He also commended the Executive Secretary for the success of the just-concluded Easter Pilgrimage and for steering the Commission with vision and courage amidst global challenges. Bishop Moradeyo further appealed to Bishop Adegbite to visit states struggling to sponsor pilgrims in order to encourage governors to support participation in future pilgrimages.
