How Governor Kefas changed Taraba Poly narrative – Dr. Amos

By Celestine Ihejirika, Jalingo

On assumption of office barely two years ago, Dr Amos Agbu made it categorically clear that it will no longer be business as usual in the State owned Polytechnic, Suntai during an Inaugural meeting with management and staff thus signifying a down of a new era.

Dr Amos who assumed duty in an acting capacity was graciously elevated by the State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas as a substantive Rector because of hard work and commitment to duty.

Those who are familiar to him described the elevation to the position as Rector as well deserved and not only commended the foresight of the governor but his decision to follow due process and resisted the temptation of bringing a stranger in the helm of affairs of the Institution.

As a matter of fact, some that are close to the academic environment in the state who spoke to our correspondent in Jalingo in recent time applauded the Rector for instilling confidence in the Polytechnic.

According to them, the Institution has not recorded negative reports such as cultism, riot, robbery, protest, strike and among others.

Furthermore, he also attributed recent students’ examination performance, regular attendance class by lectures and current discipline in place as testament to Dr. Amos’ clear visions compared to his past predecessors.

On a candid note some lecturers, who pleaded not to mention their names on the print, told our reporter that the current Rector always stands by his “words” and never compromised or changed his approach when it comes to administrative duty.

On major breakthroughs in the State Poly, Dr Amos has kept consolidated on the achievements recorded even before assumption to office while also updating some or completely erased those considered as irrelevance in the present day reality.

In a particular worthy of note under leadership of Dr Amos is the current Security measure, adherence to the rule of engagement, elimination of exams malpractices, provision of infrastructure (accommodation) accreditation of courses by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and above all prudent management of financial resources among many more others were all commended.

Today, Taraba State Polytechnic Suntai can measure with its counterparts in Nigeria from being a glorified Institution to an envious one in the comity of tertiary education.

Contacted on the aforementioned, the poly Rector Dr Amos Agbu attributed the recent development in the institution to gov Agbu Kefas unwavering support to the Institution.

He disclosed that the state was lucky to have a “God send” governor like Dr Agbu Kefas particularly in the education sector.

Dr. Amos said he was overwhelmed by the support and magnanimity the polytechnic has received under the current administration and pledged total loyalty, commitment, dedication and prayers to gov Kefas.

“I want to use this single opportunity to thank the chief executive of the state for the confidence he has reposed to me as a Rector of the school and by God’s grace we will not disappoint him” Dr Agbu stated.

Meanwhile, as the only state own polytechnic now speedily progressing under Gov Agbu Kefas watch, it is expected that all hands most be on desk to support the leadership of the Institution to build a new Taraba Polytechnic of his dream for the purpose of development and the progress of the students as well to desist from “pull him down syndrome”.
