Suspected hoodlums have reportedly harassed, molested and actually stopped students of University of Calabar from accessing venues of their night class study.

Sources said that two nights ago, two students were reportedly attacked when persons who are not students of the varsity invaded a department of in the University.

Arising from the increasing attacks and molestations, the Students Union Government of the tertiary institution has waded into what they described as ugly development.

Director of welfare of the government, Omagu Paul issued a statement Tuesday night, confirming that, at least, 20 students have raised the alarm.

He said they have stepped in and cautioned that culprits would be arrested.

“Our attention has been drawn to the uncouth behaviour of some persons who deny students access to study at some venues on campus during the night class.

“Over 20 students have called in with the same complaint of being denied access to study in some departments/faculties, with the excuse that they are not students of the department or faculty. “

The SUG also cautioned that it was bad for students to be denied access to study as examinations were fast approaching.

“Persons who partake in this act should refrain from it, as we would not hesitate to take the necessary action.”
