The Chief Security Officer in the College of Education (COE) Akamkpa in Cross River State, Mr Justine Abuo Bemtem has cried aloud over the incessant vandalisation of equipment in the school in recent times.
He disclosed this when a faith-based students group, Association of Brotherhood Academic Scholars (ABAS) visited the school as part of their 43rd Anniversary Celebration.
He confided in the ABASites that some layabouts have been horribly and wantonly vandalizing the school electrical armoured cables thereby causing power outages on campus.
He solicited the students group to constantly pray and dissuade other students on campus to live a lawful life and focus on their studies.
” I have the faith that prayers of the children of God like you would stop the breaking, dismantling, and vandalization of the electric cables and make our campus secured.”
“The school is for teaching and learning. And God is our main Source of success.
“We want all students activities to follow the rules and regulations of the College; their activities should not be inimical to the College.
“We are deploring security guards on patrol around the school premises to maintain constant checks, provide physical protection for lawful students. We act upon any reports and address them and tackle any emergencies or breach of peace on campus.
He appealed that the business of security should not be left to security agencies alone, but each person must make security a constant personal concern.
He advised that everyone should be alert and be security conscious, cautioning that students should go about their lawful business and comply with the college’s rules, procedures and policies.
He admonished the ABASites to eschew violence, maintain tranquillity, and good mutual working relationship with other students on campus.
Leader of the ABAS visitation team, Archbishop Emmanuel Ekuri said the visit was in recognition of the great need for security and public safety as the first factor to consider during their annual celebration.
Ekuri praised the CSO for his tireless efforts in securing physical lives and properties, describing their mission as centred on the Peace and Security of the soul.
He assured that their students group will continue to work on campus to foster peace, brotherhood and encourage other students to flee violence, cultism and vandalism.
