The Member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Daniel Amos, has debunked rumours suggesting his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), affirming his loyalty and continued commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Hon. Amos, Chairman House Committee on House Services made the declaration on Saturday in Kafanchan while addressing his political appointees and associates drawn from Jema’a and Sanga Local Government Areas. He stressed that, despite mounting pressure from various quarters, he remains steadfast in the party that gave him the platform to serve his people.
“This mandate was given to me by my constituents and I cannot betray them. It is better for me to serve a meaningful one term under the PDP than to defect to another party,” he said.
While reiterating his allegiance to the PDP, Hon. Amos, however, commended the administration of Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for aligning their policies with the interests of Southern Kaduna, particularly in the area of inclusion and infrastructural development.
He also used the opportunity to announce the upcoming celebration of his two years in office, scheduled for June, which he said would be marked with a series of empowerment initiatives for constituents.
The lawmaker charged his aides and political appointees to replicate his commitment by reaching out to grassroots communities and supporting those in need. “You must help shape the lives of our people in my name; the essence of leadership is touching lives,” he added.
Among the notable achievements of Hon. Amos within his two years in office are the award of scholarships to indigent students, financial grants to local farmers, and support for small-scale business owners across the constituency.
Speaking at the event, the Kaduna State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Edward Percy Masha, described attempts by the ruling APC to woo opposition members as a ploy to stifle democracy.
“A one-party system is dangerous and undemocratic. The APC is attempting to cover its shortcomings by luring elected officials and stakeholders from opposition parties, but this is not in the interest of Nigerians,” Masha stated.
Chief Masha lauded Hon. Amos’ exceptional performance, stating that “no one can compare his record in office within such a short time.”
Party stakeholders at the meeting commended the representative’s leadership style, describing him as a principled and people-centered lawmaker. They offered prayers for his continued success and pledged their unflinching support.
