I have expanded and enriched the narrative… Not here to nail Peter Obi’s political coffin

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

l must make this point abundantly clear. I do not hate Peter Obi as a person but thoroughly detest his approach to politicking.

In truth, Peter and l share many commonalities but l shall mention just one or two. We are in same age bracket. He is a Catholic just like yours sincerely, proudly so. I resist the temptation to mention the other commonalities. I know if my mother were alive, she will likely support Obi because of religion.

Mother supported Ojukwu because Sir Louis, Emeka’s father was a Catholic back then. God bless his and Emeka’s souls in the celestial realm.

That was my mother. This is Bernard. Our dreams, perceptions and approaches, must be dissimilar. That is not a sin. Just create your identity and be responsible.

Peter Obi has created his own peculiar identity. He did not say, because two of his siblings are working in God’s Vineyard, he too must. I like that and that is what l meant by creating your own identity. That is where my admiration for Peter Gregory Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, ends.

Peter takes delight in churning out lies. He lies so flamboyantly and effortlessly to incite. That does not go down well with me. Unfortunately his followers, infamously called Obidients, do not take time to analyse and properly internalise Obi’s analyses. His analyses always provoke needless criticisms and controversies. His January address is one of such.

Felix Morka of the APC national headquarters merely came to contradict what Peter Obi said.

If what Felix Morka said in reply to Obi’s needless outburst provoked obidient family, then of course the APC family has the inalienable right too to react the way they are doing.

For me, Felix did a good PR job. He is the spokesperson of the party. It is part of his official responsibilities to correct any misinformation in the public space, not just that of Obi’s but anyone pontificating falsehood.

Really what is wrong with that? Must everything be politicized?

Putting it succinctly, Felix merely advised Peter Obi to moderate his lies, stop exaggeration and casually reminded Obi that he had crossed the red-line on many occasions.

Did you says threat? Where is the threat? In truth, are you saying Ob is not a voodoo analyst?

Obi ought to behave more responsibly. He was not the only defeated presidential candidates in the 2023 general elections.

We had responsible personalities like Barrister Adewole Adebayo of the SDP; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of PDP (though he too sometimes displays political rascality); Chief Dan Nwanyanwu of ZLP; Hamza Al-Mustapha of Action Alliance; Kola Abiola of PRP; Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso of NNPP; Gentleman Yabagi Sani, Loudmouth and grandstanding Omoyele Sowore and etc.

These gentlemen have taken their defeat with equanimity and quietude though with occasional contributions to national discourse.

Yes as an opposition Obi should be scrupulous in his communication and weigh his utterances. For now, Obi talks before he thinks. It does not show a sign of maturity on his part.

In the 80s, the late papa Awo was the visible opposition leader. I remember him advised the late Shehu Shagari government that…the nation’s economic ship was heading towards the precipice, and he gave incontrovertible indexes to support his claim and the way to dodge the oncoming national economic disaster. That is the way to go. But not so for Peter Obi. He criticised everything done, right or wrong, by this administration with his minimalistic theory. Has Peter Obi said anything about the functioning refineries. Those refineries stopped producing since 1993. Do not blame OBJ if he expressed his pessimism so loud. There are leaders and there are leaders. Under OBJ leadership we were told the refineries are outdated and the parts are not available in the international markets. But under Jagban leadership, he said it is do-able. If the parts are not available in the market, are there no foundry and machine tools industry to fabricate these elusive spare parts? Good thinking. Good results. PBAT is a pragmatic leader. So the results have exemplified.

I commend the NNPCL Enginners that did the magic at PH and Warri.

In his new year message,
Obi pretended to be an Angel. He suggested PBAT should stop embarking on foreign vacation trips. Obi, as governor did he visit or spend his vacations in those LGs in Anambra State? Are you saying throughout your tenure you did not undertake foreign trip? This is same Obi who did not organise LG elections throughout his 8years tenure. Today, he pretends to love the locals he did not consider merit even development by conducting elections. Yet Peter Obi and late Francis Arthur Nzeribe strenuously worked in 1993 to shuttle democracy struggle under the platform of the infamous Association for Better Nigeria (ABN). Pretence.

Did Obi say, in his new year message that over 100m Nigrians are living in poverty? That is a lie sir. Another flamboyant lie sir.

Hear what AI revealed….

As of the latest estimates available before my knowledge the cutoff in October 2023, about 40% of Nigeria’s population was living in poverty, which translates to over 83 million people (not over 100million as Obi pontificated)….

Obi is a fact manipulator.

Obi once told his gullible audiences that 10 Downing House in London has 3rooms, whereas in truth… that mansion contains approximately 100 rooms. A private residence for the prime minister and his family on the third floor and there is a kitchen in the basement. the 10 Downing has over 90 rooms. (Courtesy Google).

Again, Obi once told his Obidient supporters that the VP Mansion under construction in Abuja would cost the FG over N24b. Lie.

Whereas in truth the VP mansion would cost a pegged sum of N15billion. It is not a flat as Obi blatantly informed. It is called the VP mansion. There is a world of difference between a mansion and a flat.

Obi once told his gullible audience, early last that Nigeria has the highest no of homeless people in the world. He quoted 88m.

It is a lie.

In truth, Pakistan has the highest with about 20m, followed by South Africa and India. Nigeria is no 6.

I do not listen to Obi anymore. He propagates lies deliberately to create an Angelic posture. Always grandstanding and chasing cloud, that is Peter Obi for you.

No one should be angry when he is called or regarded as a voodoo analyst.

No responsible head of government anywhere in the world would come out, so shamelessly as Obi did, to say he saved N75billion. But Willie Obiano, his successor, made a feast of that money. Well done Your Excellency Obiano. You put the money into judicious use jare. Good manager of resources.

Do you blame a lizard for enjoying a good afternoon rest between a opening wall? Our elders say we should blame the wall for creating such a opening.

Are there no bad roads in Anambra State for rehabilitation? Are there no hospitals needing drugs? Ditto erosions in Anambra State? Are all the Anambra pensioners fully paid? I can go on and on?

Obi is a clueless leader. It is so repulsive.

Let me surprise you friends.

In the second tenure of Wike as Governor in Rivers State, he spent about N73billion to construct 13-gigantic flyovers. Those are lasting legacy for the benefits of generations to come.

Our revered papa Awo transited about 38years ago but his legacies of Cocoa House, 1st Television station in Ibadan, Liberty Stadium, Premier Hotels, Free and Compulsory Education in old Wrstern Region, the various Housing Estates in Lagos & Ibadan, Cocoa/Marketing Boards, just to mention a few.

This is the hallmark of a visionary leader. Well done Comrade Governor Wike.

However, President Tinubu has gone a step further. He has groomed people across the political divide. Political successors. Peter Obi should name five personalities he has groomed and l will gleefully mention twenty-five PBAT has impacted and groomed.

It is important we remind ourselves about this.

Obi should tell Nigerians how did 30 innocent souls were killed and dumped into Esu River under his watch. Is Nnamdi Kanu happy with Obi about this? Time will tell.

Whereas Obi goes all over the country talking about wanton killings. Charity should begin at home.

During Obi’s tenure as Governor – did the teachers and medical practitioners go on strike for MORE than 10 consecutive months?

Under former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu did labour unions, apart from national, go on strike? Juxtapose two governors on this scope.

I read one analysis certainly from an amateur analyst. Hear him…that Tinubu collects humugenous retirement benefits from Lagos State government, whereas Obi does not. Laughable and dumb, isn’t it?

I do not know how much Tinubu collects. However on the face value – take it that it is true.

Anambra State IGR for one year is what Lagos State generates in one month and this was before the advent of Dangote Refinery. It is like comparing the salary of a Mortgage Finance Director with that of a CBN Director. Kai, let us get serious.

Ooops…l am sorry. I am not here to bury Peter Obi politically but to say he lacks the political sophistication and maturity so often ascribed to him by most of his followers.

The long and short of this exposition. Obi should sparingly talk. He should realise that his public utterances are capable to provoke or incite the people. Nigerians are wiser now though. They can see beyond the smokescreen, unfortunately.

BenPino in Abuja.
