Hon Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi, member representing Bauchi Federal Constituency in the House of Reps displays NNPP Senate nomination forms
By Akanji Alowolodu, Bauchi
Member representing Bauchi Federal Constituency in the House of Reps, Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under which he was elected in 2015 as a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
When he was denied the APC ticket for the 2019 election, he joined the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and won the House of Reps seat but he later rejoined the APC in 2020 only to dump the party again.
Speaking to our Correspondent vide phone conversation, the Federal lawmaker said that, “yes, I have decamped from the APC, I am now a card carrying member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and by the grace of God I will be contesting for the Senate under the party”.
He showed his grievance saying, “the leadership of the APC in the state is not fair to me and my supporters, they just dissolved the Executive Council of my ward in Bauchi LGA without following due process. It is only the national Secretariat of the party that has the power to do that”.
Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi added that, “don’t forget that we got a judgment from the High Court in our favor on the matter but they decided to push the Judgement aside and did what suited them”.
He however assured that his camp will spring surprise with the NNPP in the 2023 General elections just as they did with PRP in the 2019 election saying that they are in the majority in the state.
On the reason for joining the NNPP, he said that, “If critically and carefully observe, you will see that the NNPP is the only alternative to both APC and PDP in Nigeria today, it is the party Nigerians are trooping into in order to be able to do away with the APC and PDP come 2023”.
He assured his supporters that they will be well accommodated in the new party because according to him, “leadership of the NNPP is not discriminatory, it is friendly and flexible, all it is after is to have real politicians who can win elections in its fold”.
