The state chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state, Dr. Aliyu Bello, on Wednesday said that he remains the authentic state’s chairman of the party and warned that the executive members of APC in Gayam Ward, Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, have no right or what so ever to suspend him.

Dr. Bello, who made the statement in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital, denied his involvement in anti-party activities with Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

According to him, it is only the state executive committee, which is the highest decision-making body in the state that could suspend him and not the executive members of APC in Gayam Ward, Lafia Local Government Area of the State.

He disclosed that the state executive committee had recently passed a vote of confidence on him over his committed and dedication to the development of the party.

While maintaining his stand, he affirmed that as far as Nasarawa state is concerned there is no any authentic APC chairman rather than him, arguing that his alleged suspension was only made on media and it is dead on arrival.

On the allegation that he has been romancing with senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, who is the member of Social Democratic Party (SDP), in the state he explained that campaign for 2027 political activities has not kick-started and why should a member of APC be campaigning for Wadada who is a member of SDPS, adding the allegation was force and was a calculated attempt to tarnish his personal image.

“As it is now APC in Nasarawa state has no preferable candidate yet for 2027 governorship election.

Politics is all about the people and Wadada has a lot of supporters spread across the length and breadth of the state and that is the reason why his posters are every nooks and cranes. The placement of his posters does not link to his name,” he refuted the allegation.

“There is nowhere that you go in Nasarawa State that you would see other aspirants posters and Wadada and you cannot see Wadada’s posters around my residential house,” he warned mischief makers in the state.

“How could tewvele members of APC in Gayam Ward, Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State override sixteen members to suspend a substantive state chairman of a party? he warned.

He narrated that he and senator Wadada had come a long way and he could not stain his long time relationship of over 42 years with him simple because he (Wadada) he is in another political party.

He, therefore, called on all members of the party to play politics according to the rules. “We have our constitution and we should stay away from force information and allegation and stop polity of bitterness,” he further causioned.

He stated that as far as the case of his suspension is concerned it is dead on arrival, saying that power comes from God Almighty Allah and He alone that takes it whenever He wishes.

He argued that the executive members of APC in Gayam Ward, Lafia Local Government Area of the State don’t have the jurisdiction to suspend him, noting that it is out of their own power to do so.

It would be recalled that on July 1, 2025 the executive members of APC in Gayam Ward, Lafia Local Government Area of the State, suspended the party’s state chairman, Aliyu Bello, over his alleged anti-party activities.

Our correspondent also reports that the decision of the executive members of APC in Gayam ward followed investigations into complaints from ward members about Bello’s conduct, which allegedly contravenes Article 21 of the APC Constitution (as amended), dealing with discipline and party conduct.
