I won’t encourage stomach infrastructure – Governor Kefas, plans palliative market in Taraba

Taraba state governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has said his administration will not encourage any call by the public to introduce stomach infrastructure for the people of the state, but would create opportunities that will better the lives of Tarabans.

Governor Kefas who stated this in Jalingo while rolling out his plans and policies in a chat with newsmen said his administration was not ready to encourage laziness among the people of the state, but pointed out that plans are on the way to setup “Kefas palliative Market” where grains and assorted food items will be cheap and affordable.

According to him, the government desire to ensure prompt payment of workers salary, pension/gratuity, free education and reduction of 50% fee at the state tertiary institution was a deliberate attempt to reduce pains and hardship undergone by parents and guardians in the current economic downturn.

In education he pointed out that nation’s highest index of out of school children in the state is currently worrisome and made it clear that those opposing his free policy on education are ignorant as the policy has come stay, while insisted that no level of criticism will stop the children from accessing free quality education in the state.

According to him, the government has concluded an arrangement to engage the services of National Youth Service Corps Members (NYSC) posted to the state to serve in various schools across the Local Government Areas, saying allowances also increased to enhance performance.

Agbu Kefas further re-entreated that during period under review, his administration has taken a critical approach in some key areas such as Education, Health, Agriculture, Security, Solid Mineral Resources among others and expressed satisfaction that in no distance time the people of Taraba will begin to appreciate the efforts put in place by the present government.

While appreciating the role of media for their reportage, the governor said there will be room for hide and seek in his government, challenged journalists to carry out their investigation across board, he noted that despite the current hardship the nation is passing through, his administration will strive hard to fulfill its promises to the people of the state to ensure that all his declarations comes to reality.

Other areas Governor Kefas promises to look into includes provision of power supply, investment opportunity, tourism, employment of teachers, students scholarship scheme as well as training and retraining of civil servants and  tackle issues of abandoned projects by previous administration.
