The Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has said passing out of more constables from four Premier Police Colleges and 12 training schools across Nigeria is a strategic development aimed at augmenting ongoing law enforcement efforts and reinforcing the fight against crimes at the grassroots level.
Egbetokun spoke during the passing out of 1033 Constables from Police Training School in Odukpani, Cross River State.
Represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police for zone six, Mustapha Muhamed Bala, said that the passing-out parade is to assure Nigerians of adequate security as they go about their lawful engagements.
The AIG who deployed the 2022 batch of recruit constables at the Police Training School Odukpani, pronounced them Police constables.
Bala disclosed that the new constables are to be deployed to their different local government areas to address the longstanding manpower deficit.
In a statement released after the passing out by acting PRO, ASP Edim Obazi, Bala said, “The passing out exercise is in line with the President’s directive for the annual recruitment of 30000 police constables across the 774 Local Government Areas of the federation to strengthen our internal security, enhance police performance, and promote optimal police service delivery nationwide.
“The recruits were trained on Professional, legal and liberal studies to enable them carry out law enforcement, crime prevention/detection and preservation of law and order in the country,” he said.
