Igwe Onyido of Ogidi, donates drugs, N1m to support Anambra govt in COVID-19 fight

North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Alex Onyido, has donated cartons of drugs and the sum of N1million to the state government to aid the fight against the novel coronavirus outbreak.
Our correspondent reports that Igwe Onyido who is a Pharmacist and owns a drug manufacturing company in his hometown Ogidi, said that the drugs were produced by his company, and were necessary medicines against some of the symptoms of the virus.
The drugs donated by the monarch included cartons of chloroquine tablets, cartons of paracetamol tablets and syrups, cartons of cough syrup, cartons of hand sanitizers and other drugs.
The Secretary to the Government of Anambra State, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, who received the donation, said that the traditional ruler, being the first person to donate cash and medical relief items, has set a record of difference and passion for the welfare of Ndi Anambra.
Professor Chukwulobelu who also noted that it was through a collective action that the virus could be defeated, appealed to individuals and corporate bodies to emulate the donors.
Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Political Matters, Chief Ifeatu-Obi Okoye, who was in the Igwe’s entourage, advised those playing politics with the current health crisis to understand that the State would emerge the best if they channel solidarity against the virus.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, that of Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba and the Permanent Secretary in the office of the SSG, Anambra State, Pharmacist Dr. Emma Ude-Akpeh, among others, were present at the event.
