The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr Solomon Akwashiki winner of Lafia Central Constituency for Nasarawa State House of Assembly in the March 18, 2023 Governorship and State Assembly elections.
The Returning Officer for the house of assembly election, Professor Samaila Usman, who announced the results in Lafia, the state capital on Thursday, said Mr. Solomon Akwashiki scored 17861 votes to defeat his closet rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr Babanlungu Ahmed who polled a total votes of 17113.
Apex News Exclusive reports that some agents for political parties who took part in the election including the PDP and APC declined to sign the result sheets.
Our correspondent, however, reports that collation of results of the election from Lafia Central of Nasarawa State Constituency was declared inconclusive owing to the irregularities in computation of results arising from Ciroma and Gayam wards of the Constituency.
