Information Commissioner urges traditional rulers to promote peace in Nasarawa

Mr Dogo Shammah, Nasarawa State Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism has appealed to traditional rulers to support Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s administration by promoting peaceful coexistence to attract tremendous development to the state.

Shammah made the appeal during a courtesy visit to Emir of Lafia, Retired Justice Sidi Bage, on Saturday in Lafia.

According to him, as custodian of the  people and culture, traditional rulers should continue to support the present government by promoting peaceful coexistence to enable the state to witness tremendous development.

The Information Commissioner, earlier commended the Emir for maintaining peace in his domain and beyond since assumption on the throne as Emir of Lafia.

“I want to use this opportunity to earnestly commend the roles you play in ensuring that there is peace in the land, since assumption on the throne, we have been witnessing relative peace in the state capital, Lafia and beyond.

“I want to call on traditional rulers, as custodian of and culture, to continue to support  the present government by maintaining peaceful coexistence because without peace there can be no meaningful development,” he said.

Shammah said he was at the Emir’s palace as part of his Ministry’s visit to media, tourist and cultural sites that abound in Nasarawa state and to seek royal blessings.

Responding, the Emir of Lafia commended the Ministry of Information and state government for their foresight to look beyond federal allocation to diversify in order to generate internally revenue through tourism.

The Monarch pledged to give the Ministry and the state government the necessary support to achieve their desired goals and objectives. (NAN)
