Insecurity: Again, Kebbi Governor Idris charges security experts, analyst, media

Security experts, analysts, and media practitioners have expressed confidence in Governor Nasir Idris’ initiatives to combat armed banditry in Nigeria.
Their conviction was hinged on the different initiatives so far introduced by the governor towards confronting the menace of armed banditry.
The summit was organized in Birnin Kebbi by Arewa Broadcast Media Practitioners Forum and Kebbi State government, aimed to address existential threats and national security.
Declaring the Summit open, Comrade Governor Idris said he has consistently engaged critical stakeholders in consultations. invested resources, and implemented strategies to tackle security challenges, which eventually ensured the return of displaced communities.
However, he lamented that the armed bandits continue to create havoc while transiting across the state, the situation that requires sustained efforts.
Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahaman Danbazau has acknowledged the governor’s initiatives and commended the idea of stakeholder consultations.
The chairman of the occasion and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, who has been to the state for the third time in two months has declared that he will continue to support Governor Idris’s efforts by making meaningful contributions at any event invited.
Earlier in his welcome address the Chairman of Broadcast Media Practitioners Forum, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Yelwa has disclosed that the Summit forms part of Governor Nasir Idris’s high level engagement with the wider Nigerian community in finding solution to the security challenges.
He further explained that the state was chosen because of its unique and comprehensive approach to combating insecurity, which combines both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies.
Another factor responsible for the choice he further explained was the recognition of the state’s revolving reputation as a hub for strategic dialogue and collaborative governance.
Renowned security experts and analysts will present papers on security and governance, with recommendations aimed at addressing the security challenges.
The speakers included the former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega, former Director of Information, Nigerian Army Major-General Kuka Sheka, Dr Yahuza Getso, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashere Professor Umar Pate and the former Kaduna State Commissioner for Security Mr Samuel Aruwan.
