Insecurity: Bauchi NUJ challenge government to rise up to defend citizens

Bauchi state government has been urged to take the recent spate of kidnappings in the state with all seriousness urging security agencies to synergize and rise up to the security challenges. 
The call was contained in a communique issued at the end of the last quarter Congress of Bauchi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) held on Saturday calling on stakeholders to assist the security agencies with useful information that will lead to apprehending the bandits.

The Communique which was jointly signed by the Secretary of Council, Isa Garba Gadau and Chairman of the Committee, Elizabeth Kah also contained commendation on the efforts of the federal and state governments in curtailing the security challenges facing the country saying however that most still need to be done to win the war against insurgency in the country.

The congress commended the Bauchi state government for pledging to reconstruct the state secretariat of union in addition to the continuous support being rendered to journalists in the state.
The Congress also commended the state council for establishing the ethics and disciplinary committee to checkmate abuse of the profession by some members as well as moving the union to a better level within just one year in office.
It equally commended the state leadership of the union for the role played when a member was brutalized by the members of the Rapid Response Squad of the  state Police Command and appealed to members to always uphold professionalism in the discharge of their assignments as unruly behaviour would not be accepted.
