Government of Cross River State has called on youths to act as vigilantes in their local communities to checkmate insecurity.

Chief of staff to the Governor,  Emmanuel Ironbar made the call when APC Ward 10 in Calabar South Local Government Area celebrated his one year in office.

He charged them to lead the vanguard of security their neighbourhood, saying much lies in their hands.

He said the youths are the main energy of the party and must continue to exhibit their leadership prowess in the party and in their neighbourhood.

Ironbar said he was proud of their membership in the party, cautioning against criminal tendencies amongst them.

He added that he will frown against any reports linking them to crimes, and the laws of the state will take their cause.

The Chief of Staff enlightened that the directive was not only for youths in the Ward 10 but across all the 18 LGAs of the state.

“Our party will not tolerated any crimes that our youths are linked to. We must continue to show leadership examples.

“I want you to compose vigilante committees in your local communities that will thwart any criminal activities.

“The state governor is all out to nib crimes in the bud, and so we must all give our supports so that our state will remain crime free and attract investors”, he said.

He further assured them that more state appointments will be available for them if they ensured peace and crime free communities.
