The Member of the House of Representatives representing Tukum/Donga/Ussa Federal Constituency of Taraba State, Hon. Rima Shawulu Kwewum, has said any part of Nigeria that wants to leave the federation should be allowed to do so.
He was speaking on “Nightline Africa”, a Voice of America (VOA), programme on Saturday evening monitored by Apex News Exclusive.
He was reacting to a question about the agitations of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to secede from Nigeria.
Hon. Kwewum cited the example of the Soviet Union where the country separated into many others following the demands of sections of the people to go their ways.
According to him, IPOB’s agitations should not be suppressed but what the country needed to do was to come up with a process without shedding of blood.
He also spoke about insecurity in the country noting that more needed to be done by the federal government.
The lawmaker noted that if the federal government claimed to have tamed Boko Haram in the North-East, insecurity is rife the North-West and such other states like Plateau, Kaduna and Niger.
