Jarman-Wase Baruga elected President, Sepaktakraw Africa Confederation

Abdullahi Ibrahim Baruga (Jarman-Wase), President of the Nigeria Sepaktakraw Federation (NISTAF), has emerged victorious as the first President of the Sepaktakraw Africa Confederation (SAC) in a highly competitive election that pitted him against candidates from Kenya and Cameroun.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Nigerian sports and African Sepaktakraw, underscoring the continent’s growing influence in the sport.
In his acceptance remarks, Jarman-Wase emphasized his vision to elevate Sepaktakraw to a leading sport in Africa, promoting athletic development, inclusivity, and measurable impact.

His emergence presents a golden opportunity for Nigeria to host major international Sepaktakraw events, which can attract investments, boost local economies, develop sports infrastructure, and create jobs for young athletes, coaches, and sports administrators.
The success of Sepaktakraw in Nigeria is expected to enhance the country’s reputation in the international sports community, promote national pride, and drive economic growth.

With Sepaktakraw already gaining popularity in Nigeria, Baruga’s leadership is poised to take the sport to new heights.
To achieve his vision, Jarman-Wase has requested the commitment of all national Sepaktakraw federations in Africa, relevant sport authorities across the continent, and International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) to support his leadership in achieving the desired goal. He further called on the Nigerian government to provide an enabling environment for his administration to excel and meet the expectations of stakeholders.

This includes supporting the development of sports infrastructure, providing support for Sepaktakraw programs, and promoting the sport nationally and internationally.
It is widely believed that the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs had a hand in Jarman-Wase’s emergence.

The minister’s support highlights the importance of government international policy and backing in sports development and demonstrates the potential for Sepaktakraw to become a significant contributor to Nigeria’s sports industry.
With the right support, Jarman-Wase’s leadership is poised to take Sepaktakraw to new heights, promoting national pride, economic growth, and athletic excellence.
