Jega challenges politicians to emulate founding fathers

In a stirring call to action, Professor Attahiru Jega, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has urged Nigerian politicians to emulate the exemplary lifestyle of the country’s founding fathers.
Speaking at a well-attended book launch in Bauchi, Jega emphasized the importance of responsible leadership and the need for politicians to lead by example. The book, which chronicles the political struggles of Umar Launi Usman and Sa’adu Zungur, highlights the selfless contributions of these two political icons to Nigeria’s development.
“Today, we gather to celebrate the lives of two remarkable individuals who dedicated themselves to the service of our great nation,” Jega said. “Their stories serve as a reminder to us all, particularly our politicians, of the importance of integrity, honesty, and selflessness in leadership.”
The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Muhammad, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Kasim Ibrahim, reiterated the state government’s commitment to emulating the exemplary leadership of Nigeria’s founding fathers.
“Our administration has executed numerous developmental projects across the state, and we solicit the support of our citizens to continue delivering excellent results,” he said.
The Reviewer of the Book, Professor Umar Pate, the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Kashere, who was represented by, General Manager Gombe Media Corporation, Ibrahim Isa, described the book as a “driver that present leaders should use to lead.”
According to Professor Umar Pate, the book will remain a guiding light for current leaders to succeed in their leadership style.
In his goodwill message, Alh Yakubu Umar Launi, who spoke on behalf of the family, thanked the organizing committee for identifying the qualities of the two celebrants, who left a lasting legacy to emulate.
He also expressed appreciation to all who contributed to the success of the program.
The event, which was attended by dignitaries from across the country, including politicians, academics, and traditional leaders, was a testament to the enduring legacy of Usman and Zungur.
