Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed has condemned, in strong terms, last Saturday attack by suspected armed men believed to be Irigwe militia in Jos, Plateau State on innocent travellers who were returning home after attending the annual ZIKR (Prayer Session) in Bauchi, to mark the commencement of the New Islamic year.
The Governor described the attack, which claimed the lives of 25 persons, as very sad and unfortunate cognizant of the fact that they were innocent citizens travelling peacefully.
This was contained in a statement by Mukhtar M. Gidado, Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor to Apex News Exclusive.
Bala Mohammed however called for calm among residents of the state, advising people not to take laws into their hands by way of reprisal attacks on other innocent people.
While Commending the proactive measures taken by the authorities in Plateau State to forestall further breach of law and order, the Governor called on the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of this despicable act and bring them to Justice.
While also commiserating with the families of all those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident, he condoled with the famous Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi for the loss of 25 members of his Tijjaniyah sect and prayed that the almighty Allah will give their families and other Nigerians the fortitude to bear this great loss.
The Governor assured residents of the state of their safety calling on them however to report any move to cause breakdown of law and order to the nearest security agencies.
