Jubilation in Nasarawa as group lauds Governor Sule for immortalising former governor Akwe Doma

There was jubilation at the Nasarawa State Government House in Lafia, the state capital on Tuesday, as the forum of political appointees of the former Governor of the state, late Alhaji (Dr) Aliyu Akwe Doma, members of his family and Doma community visited Governor Abdullahi Sule, to expressed gratitude for naming the newly completed Banquet Hall at the Government House after his name.
Addressing the gathering, the deputy governor under the late Doma, Chief Michael Abdul commended governor Sule for the honour given to the former governor by naming the Banquet Hall initiated by his administration in 2009.
He lauded the governor for completing the project, stressing that the visit was a homecoming and demonstration of solidarity to appreciate his style of leadership and called on other relevant political leaders to emulate him.
Chief Abdul while describing the former governor said “as a politician, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma encouraged us to compete in politics not to fight but to heal and emancipate the downtrodden.”
He described him as a man of blending colours who imparted in them skillful use of bureaucracy to facilitate effective development in the state.
In his remark, the son of the late governor Mr. Umar Akwe Doma said the honour given to his father was a clear indication of conscience and justice exhibited by Governor Sule which is necessary for good governance.
Responding, Governor Sule thanked them for their show of appreciation saying he was overwhelmed by the show of gratitude.
He described Akwe Doma as a father who worked tirelessly for the promotion of arts and culture in the state.
Aliyu Doma, who died on March 7, 2018 at the age of 75 was the governor of the state under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from 29 May 2007 to 29 May 2011.
