Jukun Supreme leader, Aku Uka dead?

News filtering from Wukari, in Taraba State, the traditional, spiritual and cultural base of the Jukuns said its leader, Aku Uka, Shekarau Angyu Masa-Ibi Kuvyon II has joined his forebears.

There has been no official confirmation but many platforms including that of National Association of Jukun Wanu (NAJUWA) and Wanu Progressive Movement among others say the spiritual leader has gone before us.

Apex News Exclusive sources in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, said there tones that the monarch had died and the news being communicated to the state government to approve a formal announcement.

It is not clear when the reverred leader died as it might be Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Masa-Ibi was coronated as the 27th Aku Uka in recorded history of Kwararafa in 1976. He was Chairman, Taraba State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chancellor, Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State.

In March 1961, he was a Personal Assistant to the Executive Officer in the Ministry of Animal Health, Kaduna and then became a Personal Assistant to the Parliamentary Secretary, Northern Region and transferred to Lagos as Personal Assistant to the Chairman, Electricity Corporation of Nigeria (ECN) in 1963, and finally retired from civil service after the January 1966 Military Coup to start a business enterprise in Makurdi, then part of Benue-Plateau State from where he was made the Aku Uka.
