Worried about many set-backs from within and outside its fold, the Jukun Wanu Association (JUWA) in Abuja has slated three days of fasting and prayers to heal its land and people.
The fasting and prayers will hold from April 3-5, 2020. This will be three days to its March meeting slated for April 5, 2020.
The decision was agreed by members at the monthly meeting of the association held on March 1, 2020 at Chika, Abuja.
The religious intercession will involve praying for the peaceful resolution of the chieftaincy crisis of traditional ruler of Abinsi, Aku Bise, in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State and the divine intervention against all Jukun persons that have stood against her people especially the Tiv maginalisation.
Members are also using the fasting to seek to eliminate all those that have stood on the side of the Tiv people to further truncate the peace and unity of the Jukun for their personal, selfish gains.
The meeting also resolved not to support the formal ‘outing’ of the Benue State Government-imposed traditional ruler of Abinsi slated for Easter as it coincides with the activities of National Association of Jukun Wanu (NAJUWA).
Recall that on January 31, 2020, NAJUWA published a strong-worded open latter to President Muhammadu Buahri condemning the Tiv traditional body, the Nzough-U-Tiv to rotate the kingship of Abinsi, the largest Jukun community in Benue State in a bid to create trouble among the people.
The association enumerated many issues affecting them in Benue State which the Tiv are bent to suppress.
