June 12: Gombe PDP chieftain Hon. Mailantarki salutes Nigerians on Democracy Day

A former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki, has congratulated Nigerians on the celebration of June 12 Democracy Day.
Hon. Mailantarki who represented Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State in a statement Thursday, noted that June 12, 1993 remains a defining moment in our nation’s history.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Mailantarki, pointed out that June 12 was a day when Nigerians rose above ethnic, religious, and regional divides to affirm the power of the ballot.
According to him, though that victory was denied at the time, it awakened a democratic spirit that no force could suppress.
“Today, we stand united in remembrance and reflection as we mark June 12, Democracy Day—a day that symbolizes the enduring spirit of our people and the unwavering quest for freedom, justice, and the right to choose our leaders,” he said.
On the 2027 elections, he urged the people of Gombe State to look at a personality who can move the state to greater heights.
Hon. Mailantarki was the 2023 governorship candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Gombe State.
