Politicians and religious leaders in Nigeria have been challenged to show positive influence and motivations that will bind Nigerians together in love rather than segmenting the country along ethnic, political and religious lines.

It was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the first session of Fifth Synod of the Diocese of Kwoi, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, held at Samban Gida, Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, under the leadership of His Lordship, Right Reverend Paul Samuel Zamani.

The three-day Synod, held from 23rd to 26th November, 2023, urged Nigerians to see Jesus Christ as a perfect example not just in His miraculous performance but in exercise of grace, meekness, humility, love and patience among others.

The synod lamented that Godly role models were scarce, because people do not keep to God’s commands, and urged especially Christians, to be right models to the Nigerian society at all times irrespective of conditions.

It advised Nigerians to shun all manner of materialism which it observed have become the root cause of bribery, corruption, nepotism as well as religious and political impasse, particularly in the northern parts of the country.

The communiqué enjoined particularly, the judiciary not to live in fear, but exemplify their faith in God by upholding the true example of righteousness in adjudicating on election petition matters.

The synod frowned at all forms of evil devices that have the capacity of setting Nigerians against each other and appealed to all to shun them.

While it lauded the equitable distribution of positions by President Bola Tinubu, the communiqué urged him to be resolute and focused in delivering on his Renewed Hope agenda, for the betterment of all.

It similarly congratulated Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, over his victory at the Appeal Court, and said he should provide basic infrastructure, such as roads, potable water, and agricultural inputs, as well as ensuring the safety of lives and property of people in the State.

The communiqué then urged Christian youths to resist the lure of quick money syndrome by engaging in cyber crime and various forms of corruption, and appealed to governments at all levels to create jobs, and device means of meaningfully engaging them to curb vices.
