Kano, Gombe win 39th National Quranic recitation competition in Kebbi

The 39th National Quranic Recitation Competition has ended on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi with participants in male category from Kano and Gombe in female category as the overall winners of the competition who scored 98 2% and 95.6% respectively.

Both male and female participants from Cross River, Ebonyi, Delta, Oyo, Katsina, Borno, Kebbi, Jigawa and Zamfara also won in others category of the competition.

Buhari Sunusi Idris from Kano state was named as the overall winner in all aspects of the Quran in the male category while the female category, Rumaisa Ibrahim from Gombe state became the star of the competition.

Speaking on the occasion, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, expressed gratitude to Allah for blessing Kebbi State to witness the convergence of Muslims leaders and reciters of the Holy Qur’an for the past eight days in the state.

While commending the religious leaders and the Organises of the competion, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, urged them to continue to propagate the word of Allah as well as praying for peace and harmony in the country and as well the leaders.

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, while commending the participants and the winners of this year’s Quranic Recitation Competition, said each of them had demonstrated not only their talents but respect for the Holy Quran.

The Governor urged the Muslim Ummah to recollect the significant of the Holy Quran in their lives not as a mere book but as a source of comfort and brightness and light in terms of darkness.
