Kano Governor Yusuf distributes trucks of fertilizer to 44 LGs at 50% discount
The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has distributed three trucks of fertilizer to each of the 44 Local Government Councils at a fifty percent discount.
Each truck contains 600 bags of fertilizer, making a total of 79,200 bags to the 44 Councils.
This was contained in a statement Sunday by Mustapha Muhammad, Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor.
“We gathered here today not just to distribute bags of fertilizer, but to plant the seeds of self-reliance, economic prosperity, and collective dignity. We are here to renew a solemn pledge we made to our people: that under this administration, agriculture shall rise again—not as a relic of the past, but as a strong pillar of our future,” the statement quoted Governor Yusuf.
The Governor made this assertion at the flagging off of fertilizer distribution ceremony for this year’s wet season, Sunday, 29th, June, 2025 at the premises of Al Yuma Fertilizer plant in Madobi Local Government.
“Over the last two years, we have expanded access to farmland and irrigation facilities. We have successfully rehabilitated major irrigation schemes, awarded new projects across 11 Local Governments, and brought over 1,250 hectares under development,” he said.
Governor Yusuf explained further how Kano State government considers agriculture as one of its priority.
He added that the ongoing construction of a dam at Dansoshiya in Kiru Local Government Area stands as a landmark in the quest for year-round farming.
The distribution of the fertilizer at the beginning of rainy season is brilliant decision which will surely benefit the farmers.
No doubt, the fifty percent discount of the fertilizer will enhance food production, economic growth and food security.
