Kano residents mourn former Reps speaker Na’Abba

Late former Speaker, Ghali Na’Abba

Some Kano residents have described the demise of former Speaker, Ghali Na’Abba
as a huge loss to the state and the nation as a whole.

Na’Abba died on Wednesday in Abuja at the age of 65.

A cross section of the residents who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate interviews, said the late
parliamentarian would be remembered for his passion for education, rule of law and overall development of the country.

A Director at federal civil service, Mr Abdullahi Nura, said late Na’Abba contributed to the development of the state and the country at large.

“Late Na’Abba always encouraged people to live in peace with one another and stand by the truth,” he added.

Malam Aliyu Aminu, former party ward chairman of the deceased, described the former speaker as a philanthropist who
assisted the poor and the needy toward improving their social and economic wellbeing.

Also, Ashiru Abubakar, a former lawmaker, said that the late politician always ensured peace and unity among people.

Alhaji Ismail Sani, a school mate, said he received the death of Na’Abba with sadness, and described him as “a humble,
pious leader whose conduct and character in life was to service humanity.”

Also, Baba Labaran, a family friend, said former speaker’s death created a vacuum difficult to be filled, considering his
contributions to peace, stability and progress in his domain and the country at large.

Salihu Tanko-Yakassai, a Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media to the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC),
prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

He also described the deceased as a great politician who dedicated his life to the development of the state and the country as a whole.

Also, the Deputy Senate President, Alhaji Barau Jibrin, in a condolence message by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismail Mudassir,
prayed to Allah to grant the late speaker aljannat firdaus and all those he left behind the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Jibrin, while extolling the late speaker’s virtues, said he was a parliamentarian par excellence, who promoted and defended legislative
independence during his era as the Speaker of the House of Representatives between July and June 2003.

Similarly, The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, sent his condolences to the family of the late
Na’Abba.

Ganduje, in a tribute issued by his Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, described Na’Abba as a thoroughbred politician and legislator
who meant well for the country.

Late Na’Abba will be buried today in Kano after funeral prayers at the Emirs Palace.(NAN)
