The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has appointed Hon. Bashir Tanimu Gambo as the Supervising Commissioner for the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The appointment is an interim measure pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner for the ministry.
The position became vacant following the recent appointment of Prof. Badamasi Lawal Charanci as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Program Agency (NSIPA) by President Bola Tinubu.
Hon. Gambo, who currently serves as the Katsina State Commissioner for Finance, brings a wealth of experience in local government administration to this additional role.
His appointment is rooted in his track record of excellent performance, particularly during his tenure as the elected Executive Chairman of Dutsinma Local Government from 2008 to 2011.
Governor Radda expressed confidence in Hon. Gambo’s ability to effectively oversee the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs while maintaining his responsibilities as Commissioner for Finance.
“Hon. Gambo’s experience and proven leadership skills make him an ideal choice for this interim role,” the Governor Radda stated.
“His understanding of local government operations will ensure continuity and efficiency in the ministry’s functions during this transition period,” he added.
The government assures the public that the process of appointing a substantive commissioner for the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs is underway and will be concluded in due course.
