Katsina Governor Radda marks two years in office with special prayers, says ‘Leadership a trust, not a trophy’

By Nuruddeen Mohammed Yahaya, Katsina

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has marked his second year in office with a special prayer session at the Government House, Katsina.

The event, held at the Presidential Banquet Hall, brought together top government officials, Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, and other key stakeholders for a quiet moment of reflection and gratitude.

“We’re not here to celebrate power,” Governor Radda said. “We’re here to thank Allah and remind ourselves that leadership is a trust — not a trophy.”

The prayer was led by respected scholar Sheikh Dayyabu Liman, who prayed for peace, unity, and progress across the state.

In his speech, Governor Radda spoke from the heart. He admitted the job comes with challenges, but said he remains focused on honest service.

“This job isn’t about prestige,” he said. “The money we manage isn’t ours. It belongs to the people. We’re just caretakers.”

He also urged traditional rulers and religious leaders to help fight insecurity in local communities.

“It’s no longer just about the forests,” he warned. “We can’t pretend the Insecurity problem in the forests anymore. A lot of it is right inside our communities. That’s where your voices matter the most.”

The Governor thanked everyone who has supported the administration through prayers, advice, and constructive feedback.

“We still have work to do,” he said, “but with Allah’s help and your support, we’ll keep moving forward — together.”

Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Faskari, said about 75% of the administration’s goals have already been achieved.

“This government works with purpose and discipline,” he noted.

Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, added that over 140 experts helped shape the Governor’s development plan. He said the next phase of the administration will focus more on helping people, not just building projects.

“We’ve built the foundation,” he said. “Now it’s time for continuation to empower people to stand on it.”

The Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, thanked everyone who took time to attend the special prayer — from scholars and traditional rulers to public servants and community leaders.

“Your presence means a lot. It shows unity and shared purpose,” he said. “May Almighty Allah reward you all, guide you back safely to your destinations, and continue to bless our state with peace and progress.”

Among those in attendance were: Chief of Staff Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; AUDA-NEPAD Coordinator Hon. Jabiru Abdullahi Tsauri; House Leader Hon. Shamsudeen Dabai; Principal Private Secretary Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; Executive Director of Sokoto Rima River Basin, Malam Muntaqa Badru Jikamshi; Members of the State Executive Council; State Assembly Members; Head of Service Hon. Falalu Bawale; and representatives of the Emirs of Daura and Katsina.
