By Nuruddeen Mohammed Yahaya, Katsina

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed grief over the death of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mohammed Uwais, who passed away at the age of 88.

Governor Radda described the late Justice Uwais as an exceptional legal luminary whose contributions to Nigeria’s judicial system and democratic development remain unparalleled.

“Nigeria has lost one of its finest judicial minds and a distinguished son whose dedication to justice and the rule of law shaped our nation’s legal landscape for decades,” Governor Radda stated.

The Governor praised Justice Uwais’ exemplary leadership during his tenure as Chief Justice of Nigeria from 1995 to 2006, noting his staunch commitment to judicial independence and constitutional governance.

Governor Radda particularly commended the late jurist’s post-retirement service to the nation, especially his chairmanship of the Presidential Electoral Reform Committee inaugurated by late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

Governor Radda extended heartfelt condolences to the Uwais family, the Nigerian Bar Association, the judiciary, and all who benefited from the late Justice’s wisdom and mentorship.

Governor Radda prayed for the peaceful repose of Justice Uwais’ soul and divine comfort for his family during this difficult period.
