The Chairman of Kaura Local Government Area in Kaduna State, Hon. Obadiah Sankyai, has commended Governor Uba Sani for prioritising rural transformation in the state.

Sankyai gave the commendation while speaking to newsmen in Kaura, the council’s headquarters.

He said the governor’s focus on rural development would foster unity and give residents a sense of belonging.

According to him, some of the projects being executed in Kaura include the upgrade of primary health care centres, renovation of schools and the general hospital, and the construction of roads.

“We want to appreciate Governor Uba Sani for what he has been doing for the people of Kaura since assuming office. A lot of projects are ongoing, and just recently he commissioned a science secondary school in Manchok,” he said.

On achievements recorded since assuming office 10 months ago, the chairman listed the ongoing renovation of the council secretariat and staff quarters, as well as the Kaura police station.

He added that allowances had been paid to head teachers for the first time in the council’s history, while teachers whose promotions had been pending for decades had now been elevated.

“When we came in, we discovered that some teachers had not been promoted for 20 years, but today all our teachers have been promoted. There is no single teacher in Kaura with a pending promotion because we want to see education sustained as it ought to be,” he said.

Sankyai attributed the relative peace in Kaura to purposeful leadership and urged residents to support efforts to sustain it.

“The improved security we are witnessing is down to purposeful leadership. Our governor is working to make Kaduna peaceful, and we are keying into it at the local government level. I wish to caution our people against collaborating with outsiders to disturb the peace we are enjoying,” he said.

He restated the council’s commitment to policies and programmes with direct impact on the people.
