Kebbi Government Committed to Civil Servants Welfare- Accountant-General

Kebbi State Accountant General, Bello Ibrahim Nahaliku says Governor Nasir Idris Administration is committed to the socioeconomic wellbeing of civil servants in the state because they stakeholders in nation building.

While addressing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi he stated that Government was not owing workers and pensioners both at State and Local Government levels any monthly pay stressing that salaries were always paid before the 25 of every month since Governor Idris took over the affairs of the state on the 29 of May.

Nahaliku noted that because of the Governor’s attitude in responding to issues that would impart positively to the lives of the people funds were promptly released to contractors handling various projects across the state adding that completion of the abandoned ultramodern Secretariat would definitely be a thing of joy to civil servants especially those with acute shortage of office accommodation.

“To whom much is given much is expected. Let me emphasize the fact that civil servants in the state have no excuse not to support the Government as it struggle to foster changes in all sectors development. They will do better if they carry out office work diligently with every sense of patriotism,” the Accountant-General said.

He further made a clarion call “My call to project supervisors is they should ensure contacts execution are carried out according to the bill of quantity and specification. They should know that if they compromise standards it might cost our lives and propert especially in the areas of substandard roads, bridges, classrooms, offices amongst many others.”

On the issue of palliatives, Nahaliku said funds were already set aside for the purchase of tonnes of assorted grains for distribution to several households to compliment the supplies received from the Federal Government meant to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

The Accountant-General also a title holder, Amirun Zoromawa, charged traditional rulers to call on civil servants with traditional titles in their domains and were occupying sensitive government offices to be responsive in the discharge of their schedules.
