Governor Idris of Kebbi State

The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris has approved the immediate payment of leave grant to all categories of workers both at State and Local Government levels.
Governor Idris made this pronouncement during a meeting with officials of Nigeria Labour Congress following the commencement of a two-day nationwide warning strike on fuel subsidy removal saga.
The Governor had instructed the Commissioner of Finance to effect the payment within the next twenty-four hours and ensure 10 percent of the basic salaries was paid as leave grant.
The payment according to Governor Idris was a deliberate effort to give civil servants sense of belonging and cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
In his response the State Chairman, Comrade Murtala Usman, thanked the Governor for the kind gesture more especially that the State has concluded plans to purchase grains worth N4.5b for distribution to masses.
