By Anthony Maliki, Abuja

Kebbi State Governor, Malam Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, Tuesday led delegation to offer condolences to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, following the passing of his mother, Hajiya Safara’u Umaru Barebari, at the age of 93.

In his condolence message, Governor Idris described the deceased as a woman whose life reflected divine grace and blessing.

“Today, we gather with heavy hearts to seek Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for your beloved mother—our mother—who has returned to her Creator. At 93 years, her life was a profound testament to divine grace. In our Hausa tradition, we say: ‘A person is truly blessed when they depart this world in peace, leaving behind a legacy of love and unity.’ Her journey, marked by such longevity and dignity, is no small blessing,” Governor Idris stated.

The Kebbi Governor revealed that he received the news while performing Umrah in Mecca, saying, “When the news reached us in Mecca, our hearts joined yours in prayer. Even as we performed our Umrah, we shared in your grief, united across distances by faith and brotherhood. Now, having returned, we stand before you—my family, my people, and I—to reaffirm our solidarity.”

“We witnessed your unwavering devotion during her final moments—holding her hand, standing by her bedside. Such acts of love are rare and sacred. They remind us of the honor in caring for those who raised us, and they inspire us all to cherish our bonds in this fleeting world,” he noted.

He concluded with prayers for the deceased, saying, “May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala forgive her shortcomings, envelop her in His infinite mercy, and grant her the highest abode in Jannatul Firdaus. To you, your family, and all who loved her, we pray for patience and strength to bear this loss. May her legacy of love and resilience continue to guide us.”

Responding on behalf of Governor Radda, Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe expressed profound gratitude for the visit.

“This gathering, though rooted in grief, reminds us of the strength of unity. You have traveled not only with your government delegation but also with your family to mourn the passing of our mother—the beloved mother of Governor Dikko Radda. For this act of compassion, we are deeply moved,” the Deputy Governor said.

Deputy Governor Jobe noted, “On behalf of Governor Dikko Radda’s family, the Government of Katsina State, and our people, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. May Allah accept your kindness as a noble deed and strengthen the ties between our states and communities.”

Governor Idris was accompanied by members of his family and senior government officials from Kebbi State.
