Kebbi teachers now to retire at 65 years

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris has approved the domestication of the law upgrading the retirement age of teachers from 60 to 65 years of age.

The Commissioner for Basic Education, Hajiya Halima Mohammed Bande disclosed this to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi shortly after the weekly State Executive Council meeting.

She said to this end teachers who worked for thirt-five years in the teaching profession had the opportunity of reaching forty years before retirement.

Bande disclosed that necessary paper work would be presented to the Ministry of Justice to prepare a Bill for onward submission to the State House of Assembly.

The Commissioner said once the bill become a law the Governor would definitely assent to it in order to boost the morale of teachers across the state.
