Kidnappers kill 3, abducts 28 within 3 days in Taraba

A victim of kidnappers in Taraba State

Kidnappers over the weekend killed three persons and abducted twenty eight others in Yelwa Abbare and Malam Alin Gora of Ardo kola Local Government as well as in Jauro Bakari village of Lau Local Government of Taraba State which are just few kilometers away from Jalingo the State capital.
The kidnappers who stormed Yelwa Abbare at about 10:00pm last friday first killed a house wife who tried to prevent them from abducting her husband one Peter Kona but abducted him after killing the wife.
An eye witness Abubakar Adamu who spoke with our Correspondent said after killing the woman who block the entrance the bandits went into the house and dragged the husband out but few metres into the bush machetted him when he refused to move and thinking that he was dead they abandoned him and went back to the village, kidnapped a Pastor and his son who are still in their custody.
The bandits came back on Saturday a day after at about 8:30pm went to the market square at Yelwa Abbare rounded the market and started shooting sporadically and the people started running to all directions on the process the Kidnappers killed a young boy who was running for his dear life and severely wounded three others who are now at the Federal Medical Center FMC, Jalingo while Peter Kona who was macheted by the kidnappers the previous day and also taken to the same hospital died yesterday.
One of the victims from Yelwa Abbare who was shot at the tight and another bullet pierced the hire on his Head now at the FMC, Jalingo explained that at about 8:30pm they suddenly saw marks men carrying heavy guns rounded the market and started firing to all directions the traders and buyers in the market then started running for their lives.
Another victim of the attack Gambo Suleiman said “I was just in my shop at Yelwa Abare on that faithful
day that I started hearing gun shots from all directions on the process I was shot on my right elbow the bullet went through broke my bone and went out near my arm and later I was taken to this hospital after the bandits who were all in military three quarter shorts nickers abducted nine persons and left who are presently all in their custody I am very grateful that I am alive and recuperating”.

The the forth victim of the Abbare Market attack now at the FMC, Jalingo Hassan Garba who was shot on the stomach also thanked God that he was alive because he lost all hopes of survival when he was brought to the hospital.
Speaking with our Correspondent in Jalingo Yohanna Bernard a brother to Peter Kona one of the victims who died at the FMC at the result of the severe machette cuts inflicted on him by the bandits expressed shock over the sudden demised of his brother who is a humanitarian by nature.
“He is a philantrophies very helpful to the entire community his death is really a agreat loss to our people we have been thrown into serious confussion we Will not be in peace again he has been protecting us well”.
Yohana Bernard appealed to the Taraba State Government and all security Agencies in the State to as matter of urgency take proactive measures against all types of banditry who are trying to take over Taraba State.
Meanwhle, a total of twenty eight persons are presently in the custody of the Kidnapers who invaded the three villages now nine from Yelwa Abbare, eight from Malam Alin Gora and eleven from Jauro Bakari.
The kidnappers who carted away property worth millions of naira from traders when they attacked Yelwa Abbare market are demanding a ransom of forty million (N40,000,000:00) naira for the eight persons they kidnapped at the market while a victim who was recently kidnapped in Jalingo who paid a ransom of Ten millions Seven hundred and fifty thousand naira (N10,750,000:00) to secure his freedom prayed God to protect anyone from going into the hands of the kidnappers saying that you can forfeight all you have to secure your freedom because of the ordeal and torture by the kidnappers.
It is understood that there are three different sects of bandits in Taraba State at the moment, the first are those who came to take revenge those who were said to have been forcefully sent out of Taraba State and denied access by the previous Govermment, the second group are the remnant of Boko Haram who fled the areas freed by the Govermment of Borno State and are looking for a safe haven while the third group are the actual bandits, kidnappers and armed robbers.
It is also believed that there are eight Kidnappers dens surrounding Jalingo the Taraba State capital where victims are kept and ransom paid based on the directions taken by the Kidnappers after carrying their victims.
