A tragic confrontation between a farmer and a Fulani herdsman, Halidu Shu’aibu, on Friday afternoon led to the death of the herdsman and reportedly escalated into further violence, claiming the lives of five other locals in Agban Sabon Gari in Pasakori axis of Atuku Ward in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Kaduna State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Alhaji Abdulhamid Musa Albarka, confirmed the initial incident to our reporter.

He recounted that the altercation began with a verbal exchange, during which the farmer allegedly warned Shu’aibu that he would shoot him, a threat that tragically ended with the herder being fatally shot.

In the aftermath, rising tensions reportedly resulted in the killing of five locals and three injured in what described as reprisal.

Alhaji Albarka urged association members to remain calm and refrain from taking the law into their hands, emphasizing the importance of allowing law enforcement to address the matter.

He noted that the Jema’a Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Peter Tanko Dogara, who spoke with him, also appealed for calm and assured him that authorities would investigate the incident thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice.

Meanwhile, the Member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, Hon. Daniel Amos condemned the sad incidence, adding that such actions threaten the peace, unity, and progress that they all strive for.

“Let us come together, united in our commitment to peace, and work collaboratively to ensure Pasakori and the entire Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency remains a safe and harmonious community for everyone. I urge everyone to reject violence in all forms and to embrace dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution,” he said

He added that the authorities are taking all necessary steps to investigate this ugly incident thoroughly, hold those responsible accountable, and implement measures to prevent any reoccurrence.

Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, for further comment were unsuccessful, as his phone was unreachable at the time of filing this report.

But local authorities are working to ensure that justice is served while maintaining peace between herders and farmers in the area.

The Council Chairman, Tanko, has earlier ordered the immediate deployment of security operatives to Pasakori before going into a meeting with religious leaders and security forces, as well as, traditional rulers and Ardos from the area, including the Chief of Godogodo.

In a statement by Head of Communications and Special Duties, Paul Aliyu, the chairman urged the residents of Pasakori and the people of Jemaa Local Government Area to be law-abiding and eschew any form of violence or reprisal, as government will deal decisively with anyone or group intent on causing mayhem in the local government.
