By Sunny A. David, Awka

Several members of the Onitsha Metropolitan Council of the Knights of St. Mulumba in Nigeria were elevated to the Fourth Degree, the order’s highest rank, at an investiture ceremony on June 21, 2025.

The ceremony, held at St. James Catholic Church in Otolo, Nnewi, included a Eucharistic celebration led by the council chaplain, Rev. Fr. Pascal Okeke.

In his homily, Fr. Okeke stressed the importance of divine guidance, urging the newly inducted knights to view their elevation as a call to greater moral responsibility and service to the Church. He highlighted the futility of human effort without God’s grace.

Among those receiving the Fourth Degree were Sir Marcel N. Okoli, Sir Obiudu Ikechukwu, and Sir Ndianaefo Nkemefuna, recognized for their dedication and commitment to the order.

Sir Dr. Charles Mbelede, the Supreme Knight of the Order in Nigeria, lauded the investiture as a testament to the recipients’ spiritual growth and moral character.

He emphasized that the Fourth Degree is the highest honor, bestowed only upon those who demonstrate exemplary qualities.

He also commended the members’ support in making the ceremony a success and urged the new Fourth Degree members to uphold the order’s values of integrity, charity, and service.

The honourees expressed gratitude for their elevation, viewing it as a divine mandate to serve with humility and excellence.

Founded in 1953, the Knights of St. Mulumba is a Catholic fraternal society dedicated to spiritual growth, charitable works, and promoting Christian values.
