Kogi SDP condemns unlawful detention of Ododo for over one month
By Gabriel Agbonika, Abuja
Peeved by the continued arrogance and abuse of power amongst few government officials in Kogi State, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the state has strongly condemned the unlawful arrest and detention of Ododo, the Flower Boy, within the past one month merely on a reported criticism of Hajia Habitat, the Kogi State Accountant General.
In a press release from the State Press Secretary to SDP, Mr. Isaiah Ijele, which was made available to Apex News Exclusive, the party said that the continued detention of this individual for over one month without bail or trial in court is a blatant violation of his freedom and human rights.
According to the statement, “the SDP views the continued detention without bail or trial of the popular Flower Boy as a serious attempt to silence and suppress freedom of speech in the State. If such brutal actions taken against citizens by the State Accountant General for merely speaking out against injustice are not challenged and stopped urgently, it will amount to denial of justice and disregard for rules of law in a democratic system of government.”
While calling for immediate release of Mr. Ododo from detention, the State SDP believes strongly that the persistent conduct of Hajia Habitat is a poor reflection of the State Government image. This must stop.
“The SDP therefore urges Governor Ahmed Ododo to intervene and address the situation promptly so that those responsible for this ugly injustice are held can accountable for their actions.
Madam Habibat, we give you 48hrs to Release that boy held in Police custody without bail or court. The same person that doesn’t respect state Representatives now chasing after an Innocent boy? Shame on you.
Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo such characters should be far from you.
This abuse of power must not be allowed to continue under this government”
