The Plateau State Government has been notified of a five-day sit-at-home and warning strike order by the State Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, (JNPSNC).
To this notice, the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has written all her affiliate bodies to inform their members and prepare for the action which takes effect at midnight of Sunday, December 11, 2022.
In the notification signed by state chairman of the NLC, Comrade Eugene Manji and the Ag. Secretary, Badung Y. Dalyop respectively, the NLC said it’s for their “strict compliance “
According to it, this follows a resolution from the JNPSNC meeting which held on the 6 of December after reviewing agreements with the government and which has not been responded to by the government in it’s strike notification to the state NLC.
The letter signed by Comrade Titus Malau and Timothy S. Gopep; JNPSNC state chairman and secretary respectively informed of an agreement between the body and the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, held on November 11, 2022 which was reneged on by the government.
It stated that a congress of the labour unions held on 22 June, 2022 had noted among other things, the irregularity in computation of salaries and payments and demanded the release of a salary structure to guide in computation of workers payments.
It also noted with displeasure the release of promotions and annual increments and the payments of only three months arrears to workers that are lucky to be promoted among others.
It was further surprised about the stability of wage bills in the service after workers are retired, and demanded for a “high powered committe; labour inclusive, to conduct a wholistic audit of the payroll system.”
The notice waa copied the state chairman of the NLC, state chairman of the Trade Union Congress, (TUC), the Director, State Security Service, (SSS), the Commissioner of Police and the Controller of Labour in the state.
