Members of the Association of Senior Staff of Banks and Insurance and Financial Institutions on Monday visited the Minister of Labour and Employment Simon Bako Lalong to congratulate him over his appointment and seek ways of collaboration for enhanced productivity and economic growth.
Leading the delegation to the office of the Honourable Minister, President of ASSBIFI Olusoji Oluwole said the union congratulates the Minister for his appointment and wishes him well as he discharges his duties to the nation.
This was contained in a statement by Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Special Adviser Media to the Hon. Minister of Labour and Employment to Apex News Exclusive on Tuesday.
He said the Minister is bringing on board his vast experience in public service in handling labour matters in the country.
He pleaded with the Minister to look into various issues concerning his members which include abuse of the law on volunteerism, refusal to sustain a unionised workforce by new entities taking over financial institutions, non implementation of sectoral collective bargaining agreement by some institutions, disregard for laws against casualisation, systematic disengagement of workers under many guises and the rising flight of financial experts from the country.
He also commended the Minister for setting up the mechanism to address the issues arising from the NSITF whose performance needs to be improved.

Responding, the Minister appreciated them for the visit and assured that all the issues raised will be handled appropriately to ensure that workers under the Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions are motivated to give their best for National Development under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Similarly, the Minister received executive members of the Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA) led by its President Dr. Nosa Orhue.
They also congratulated the Minister over his appointment and asked for his intervention in several issues including the adjustment of entry point for their members which is level 10 instead of level 13, harmonisation of payment platform for doctors who work in the teaching hospitals and universities as well as the retirement age adjustment among others.
They also appealed for payment of withheld salaries of some of their members who did not participate in the last ASUU strike but are yet to be paid.
The Minister of Labour and Employment Simon Bako Lalong appreciated their visit and said he will do his best to address their concerns for harmonious industrial relations.
